Convert endpoint overview

Convert endpoints show the footprint of a given amount of something. See all available categories along with methodology and sources

Convert endpoints simply convert data into footprints, and can therefore be used to convey the climate impact of an action to a user, calculate direct and indirect emissions in professional contexts and for climate reporting.

The input units vary between the different endpoints, but the output always includes kg CO2e. For these calculations we use multipliers or factors that are multiplied with a quantity to obtain greenhouse gas emissions in kg CO2e.

Each endpoint is defined by the units of data it accepts. Below is a table showing the units of data applicable to each endpoint:

Convert type

Units accepted

Food and drink

kcal or kg (of food and drink)

Energy

kWh or litres (of fuel)

Transport

km, kWh used (for electric vehicles) or days (for cruise journeys)
